The pandemic had me staying in voluntary self isolation for a long while, but eventually I got completely fed up with not being able to do my own shopping. It’s a right pain in the arse when you order your groceries and then things go wrong with your order – as happens all too often.
So a couple of weeks ago I decided to at least do some of my own shopping. It wasn’t much. Just a trip to a tiny farmer’s shop in a neighbouring hamlet. To my surprise and relief, there was no-one there. Not even the owners. There was a note telling the customers to take what they need, and either put the payment in the safe on the wall, or do a bank transfer.
I bought apples and potatoes there, and paid cash. I need to go there again soon now. I actually wanted to go today, but never made it. I was too tired after this morning’s trip to the market in a neighbouring village, where I bought a huge cauliflower, and some other really nice produce.
On my way back home I went to visit my ex and children and got me some fresh rhubarb from their garden, and mint, chives and grape leaves. By the time I got back home, I was completely knackered. And hungry.

I had some rhubarb crumble for lunch, as I was too tired to make me a proper meal, and then later on, I had a banana.
Then I played the piano, lay on the sofa wasting my time on the Big Bad Web recharging my batteries, and then I decided I wanted to take pictures of my lovely food haul.

The cats were intrigued, and all three of them came to sniff my food out, but only Mozart stayed around for the pictures. He’s so cute!
And already my mind is on “what shall I make with all these lovely veggies this weekend?“
